Theresa Hendricksen
Theresa Hendricksen, MS, RN, FACHE is the Vice President of Operations for Accreditation and Certification Operations (ACO) for The Joint Commission. In this role, she has executive leadership for the accreditation and certification programs for health care organizations and all activities related to surveys, including the oversight of Joint Commission Surveyors and Reviewers. Prior to this role, Ms. Hendricksen was the Senior Director of Field Operations where she oversaw the survey processes and activities for the Hospital, Critical Access Hospital, Life Safety Code, Nursing Care Centers, and Assisted Living programs. She continues to be an active Nurse Surveyor in the Hospital program.
Ms. Hendricksen has extensive experience in health care operations including quality and patient safety. Previously, she served as both Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer at multiple children’s hospitals. In those roles, her responsibilities included oversight of the delivery of high quality, safe patient care to pediatric patients. She developed and implemented robust mock survey programs to assure that organizations were in a constant state of readiness for all regulatory activity. Prior to her executive leadership roles, Ms. Hendricksen was a Director of Materials Management and Managed Care where she oversaw the supply chain management for the entire hospital as well as utilization review programs. She began her career in health care as a pediatric nurse in New Jersey and has held various leadership positions in hospital settings across the continuum of care with a primary focus in pediatrics.
Ms. Hendricksen is a current Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) serving since 2010. She has served on multiple boards including Make-A-Wish Connecticut, Community Health Resources Board of Directors, and the Ronald McDonald House of Michigan.
Ms. Hendricksen received her Master of Science degree in Allied Health Administration from the University of Connecticut and her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH.
