New and Revised Laboratory Requirements Related to Histocompatibility to Maintain Alignment with CMS

Effective January 1, 2025, The Joint Commission has new and revised requirements in response to revisions to the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations for laboratories. On December 28, 2023, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a final rule that updates regulations for histocompatibility and personnel requirements. The regulations are effective December 28, 2024.

To address the regulation changes, The Joint Commission updated all of its histocompatibility requirements.
