New and Revised Emergency Management (EM) Requirements for Nursing Care Centers
Effective January 1, 2025, The Joint Commission has approved new and revised “Emergency Management” (EM) requirements for all Joint Commission–accredited nursing care centers.
The Joint Commission undertook a thorough analysis and rewrite of the Emergency Management (EM) chapter that resulted in reorganizing requirements, renumbering standards, and reducing the number of elements of performance (EPs) by over 28% for nursing care centers.
