(OAKBROOK TERRACE, Illinois, December 16, 2024) – The Joint Commission is pleased to announce it is recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the Best in Business of 2024. Modern Healthcare has acknowledged The Joint Commission in the Accreditation and Certification category, for its impact over the past year to enable and affirm the highest standards of healthcare quality and patient safety for all.
In 2023, The Joint Commission streamlined healthcare accreditation by eliminating over 350 standards, focusing on reducing administrative burden and allowing more time at the bedside. In the last year, it also launched eight new programs addressing critical issues like healthcare equity, environmental sustainability and the responsible use of health data. Globally, Joint Commission International (JCI) collaborated with the Geneva Sustainability Centre to offer Healthcare Sustainability Certification.
To further drive patient safety and quality of care for all, The Joint Commission is focusing on reaching all parts of the healthcare ecosystem through new collaborations. Its 2023 strategic affiliation with the National Quality Forum (NQF) is simplifying quality metrics and aligning stakeholders on key measures, and its 2024 strategic alliance with the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) is uniting healthcare quality professionals around a universal set of quality competencies.
Additionally, The Joint Commission and ARCHANGELS’ Care Badge initiative is reaching consumers to help unpaid caregivers receive free resources and transfer their skills into occupational opportunities in healthcare.
The Best in Business program celebrates organizations that drive innovation, efficiency and excellence across the healthcare industry. By acknowledging leading innovators within the industry, Modern Healthcare aims to highlight the pivotal role these organizations play in enhancing the overall healthcare ecosystem.
“Today’s Joint Commission brings a new leadership team with deep operational experience to bring the best science and management practices to the challenges of contemporary healthcare,” says Jonathan B.
