Charting a Course with Data-driven Insights
However, key sustainability metrics are not readily available and require the combination of several internal and external data sources. To establish this competency, BIDMC hired a Senior Sustainability Data Analyst to support the Sustainability Program Manager. The hiring of a senior sustainability data analyst provides oversight for these data sources and ensures that the reporting is validated and representative of the organization's boundaries. The main objective for the Senior Sustainability Analyst is to collaborate with the Sustainability Department in their goal to minimize the environmental and public health impacts of all hospital activities, including patient care and research, to serve our patients compassionately and effectively, and to create a healthy future.
This position is responsible for identifying formats and data sources necessary to establish a baseline across the hospital in the areas of climate (energy, anesthetics, transportation, waste, and food), water, employee engagement, responsible procurement, and other sustainability key areas of interest. In addition, the sustainability analyst will create dashboards that track BIDMC’s sustainability metrics and goals to improve transparency across the organization. The role is responsible for identifying data-driven program opportunities and measuring effectiveness of environmental impact reductions across the health system.
